Important information about writing poems!
1. What's the Big Idea! - Every poem has a main theme!
2. Purpose - Who will be reading the poem and what do you want to tell them.
Poems are written to persuade, entertain, or inform.
What will your poem do?
3 Mood - In poetry, to create mood, the writer must depend on the use of words and
phrases to "paint the right scene."
4. Form - Poems have shape. Decide what form your poem will be.
Some forms are: Ballad, Cinquain, Couplet, Haiku, Limerick or Free Verse.
Rhyme or not...it's up to you.
